AMA Health care communication ethics

I happened upon this AMA (American Medical Association) page concerning the 9 areas to help develop patient-centered communication. I find it interesting that they place communication within the medical ethics section of their site. Thoughts?

  1. I think that this is a very fitting place for patient centered communication. I think one of the most important ways that a health care professional can provide care for someone is by being able to communicate with them and that is determined by the patients cultural and ethical background and numerous other things. I think this is a very effective presentation of how medical professionals try to prepare their communication skills to communicate with their patients. I wish that the book would have touched more on these kinds of health care communication ethics because these are a more interesting approach to health care communication ethics instead of what the care is and who holds the responsibility etc. Especially as a patient myself I am very curious as to how health care professionals prepare themselves for all of the numerous communicative situations they are placed in dealing with health issues, breaking bad news, communicating across different barriers, and more.
