When Fantine was seeing the phantasm of Cosette, Fantine was talking and singing to her with full of love. It was kind of sad that Javert seem so bad person because he was just doing what he suppose to do.
When innkeepers were talking to Cosette, she treated Cosette like a little rat who stay in her place by paying nothing even though Fantine has bbeen paid such a long time. Also, when Jean Valjean came to inn to help Cosette, innkeepers pretended how much they loved Cosette and revealed indirectly that they want money for Cosette.
